For many Leeuwarders and tourists by now a concept: the Zuivelhoeve, the cosy, nostalgic cheese and nut shop on Kleine Kerkstraat. In recent months the shop has been rebuilt, and owners Anton Klapwijk and Willie Oranje have been able to move the building across the street. rent. On Wednesday evening 13 March 2019 Mayor Ferd Crone opened in the in the presence of employees, colleagues from the street and acquaintances of the rebuilt and the new shop in the Kleine Kerkstraat, by cutting through a strand of Fryske raging.
Entrepreneur Anton Klapwijk: 'The building that we had was too small. Pretty soon, actually. We've been thinking about move to a bigger building, but we didn't want to leave here. It's like this. cozy. The Kleine Kerkstraat is not for nothing declared the nicest shopping street of the Netherlands.'
"And then we were given the opportunity to shop opposite," says his wife Willie enthusiastically.
A unique opportunity that the two entrepreneurs right away. Anton and Willie thought carefully about the concept. They wanted to give the second building its very own atmosphere and assortment.
Over the past few months, they've been busy have been. First with the renovation of the old shop, which now surprisingly more offers space and looks fresh and uncluttered. Then they started working with the building opposite. It was transformed into an attractive, tough shop. where all kinds of new sausages, hams and wines are available.
Inspiration from the two entrepreneurs was gained in Spain and Italy. 'We've been going for days through Italian and Spanish villages and cities wandering. We came into old sausage and ham shops, where you couldn't find any tourist sees, but where the locals do their shopping. See how our "colleagues over there doing it gave us so many ideas!
But in the new shop you can also take your fresh Farmer'n yogurt or a fresh Farmer'n smoothie tap. That's for us a go back a little bit to the origins,' says Willie. "To how Diane Roerink. the director of the Zuivelhoeve (dairy farm), once started in 1981: with fresh peasants. "sell yogurt in buckets.
But for Anton, it's also going back to his own childhood. His father, who used to go by the doors as a milkman, also has had a shop for years where he sold everything. Anton's been there since he was a kid ...helped with it. That history is also clearly present in the new store, in the form of a large photo of Anton's father as a young entrepreneur, with horse and wagon and a milk churn.
By now the third generation in the business rolled: son Bart (25) cooperates in the case. I prefer to stand outside sell,' Bart says. "Just like my dad. And my grandfather. A little chat, talking to people, having a good time. Dealing with people. They're a beautiful product ...can give. That's beautiful, isn't it?
